About Canyon Lake California

Canyon Lake consistently has bright and hot sunny summers, and mild warm winters, making it perfect for those that don’t like the cold. Canyon Lake was completed in 1974 and development shortly followed. The town was incorporated in 1990 and now has a population of 11,267 and offers many different commercial businesses.

Schools

Canyon Lake is a part of the Lake Elsinore Unified School District which covers 144 square miles and offers more than 20 different school campuses to choose from, this ensures that you are getting the exact school that is best for your student and any specific wants or needs they and/or you may have.

Residents in Canyon Lake are assigned to the Tuscany Hills or the Cottonwood elementary school, the Canyon Lake middle school and the Temescal Canyon high school. These are some of the top-rated schools in the county.

Things to do

Canyon Lake has three major business and shopping areas; Towne Center, East Gate on Goetz Road, and Canyon Lake Towne Center at the south gate providing most of the services for the town including the City Hall, Sheriff’s Station, library and the Property Owner’s Association Office.

Canyon Lake also has a vibrant parks and rec department for its residents. All homeowners have access rights to the lake for recreational purposes, however, personal watercraft like jet skis and such, are banned on the reservoir but ski boats, fishing and row boats, and such are allowed and you’ll often see paddle boarders enjoying the lake at first light. The reservoir also have a great swimming area, beaches, a slalom course and even a jump lagoon.

Less than 45 miles from the coast Canyon Lake allows you to live just far enough inland to enjoy a hometown feel without the constant traffic, hustle and bustle and noise from tourists. Being just far enough inland this still allows for  a quick trip to the beach or a day of coastal driving to take in the sites. If you’re looking at staying closer to home, Canyon Lake does allow swimming as well as watersports, however, there are no lifeguards on duty at any of the public beaches.

There is a large range of demographics in Canyon Lake, from singles, families, and retirees, Canyon Lake caters to many needs. One of Canyon Lakes best known attractions is its year round farmers market on Sunday afternoons where you can find fresh locally grown produce and vendors of all kinds.

Canyon Lake offers homes and properties from $300,000 up to over $2 Million. Because of the landscape, there are hundreds of waterfront homes. Canyon Lake has waterfront condominiums starting at $250,000 and townhouses starting around $300,000. Luxury homes on the water offer boat docks, slips and boathouses.

Most homes, especially condos and townhouse communities, have their own homeowner’s association and dues can range anywhere from less than $100 annually to over $400 a month depending on amenities.
