Menifee is located in Riverside County, California, right off of Interstate 215 in sunny Southern California. Menifee’s earliest residents were the Luiseno people and in the early 1800s Menifee was seized by Mexico but eventually won back by the United States during the Mexican-American War in 1850. Soon after, the area was used for farming and mining. Luther Menifee Wilson was a miner who discovered quartz and Menifee was thus named after his discovery. Menifee grew from a mining town and began it’s more residential and commercial developments in the mid 1900s when Sun City became a popular retirement community.
